It details 70380 operating post offices 66726 fourth class 3635 presidential 2046 new 1750 discontinued 12090 appointments 14692 cases acted upon 103037 complaints 10025 disposed of 24 complaints of careless handling 13851000 pieces of registered mail with one loss per 10264 arrests 2074 including 158 post masters.

Cloudburst Damages Wyoming Town with $50,000 Loss

A canyon cloudburst near Rock Springs Wyoming flooded the town Sunday afternoon. Water reached three to four feet, flooding cellars and nine leading business houses, including First National Bank and Union Pacific tracks. Tim Kinney Co. building undermined. no lives lost.

Death of Enoch Pratt at age eighty eight in Baltimore

Baltimore notes the death of Enoch Pratt at Tivoli in Baltimore County after a long career as a banker and philanthropist. He celebrated his 88th birthday last Thursday and founded Baltimore's public library system with a gift of nearly a million dollars. Pratt was among the oldest active bank presidents in the United States and descended from Phineas Pratt who arrived in Plymouth in 1623.
