State Agents On The Job At Camp Dodge Milk Supply

Inspectors will conduct a two week bacteria count of milk supplies at Camp Dodge Des Moines to ensure cleanliness. State dairy officials with Major Sprague will oversee sanitation, test milk in Des Moines lab, and extend oversight to outlying dairies feeding the base hospital. Denounce Packing Houses in Des Moines Meeting

In Polk County Hog Producers Association meeting in County Agent Kennedy's office methods of large packing houses were denounced. The group then favored bigger pork production regardless of prices, saying farmers faced market and feeding problems. State Veterinarian Gibson urged patriotism, noting hogs in France earning more than $380 a month and calling for regulation of packers. A farmer, Goer, was killed when his car was struck by Burlington No. 7 near Murray.

Senator Husting Killed in Wisconsin Duck Hunt

United States Senator Park O. Husting died after being accidentally shot in the back by his brother Gustavo during a duck hunt near Rush Lake Wisconsin. The incident occurred as Husting, ahead of Gustavo, called him to shoot and was hit when Gustavo fired. He died at a farmhouse nearby.
