Fire escape tragedy ends in two deaths in St Paul
In a fire escape test at the Commercial club in St Paul a man identified as P. M. Scannon and his wife died after the slender rope broke on a third story window. Scannon, inventor of the fire escape, had guided his descent from the eighth floor and his wife, awaiting below, sprang out as directed. Both fell onto the stone sidewalk.
