A maid protests paying twenty five cents monthly to a funeral society. The mistress argues the group is liberal, offers coffins and transportation, and even provides thirty dollars at the grave, a boon for burial costs.
Des Moines reports show Judge Lawrence De Graff plans to run for attorney general on the Republican ticket in 1916. Cosson is expected to seek the governorship, opening the attorney general’s post to newcomers. Possible candidates include Thorne Bleakly Allen Palmer Moore Haskell Lee and others.
A nitro glycerin bomb exploded in the front yard of ex Governor Carroll's residence at 1830 East Ninth street in Des Moines at midnight. None of the occupants were hurt though windows were shattered and a strong odor of nitroglycerin filled the air. Police found a ground hole eighteen inches by twelve inches where the bomb had been placed. no bomber traces were located.
A 16 year old Estherville Elliott confessed to setting more than twenty fires in recent weeks. He claimed involvement in eleven barn conflagrations and eight oilers and admitted starting a fire that damaged the local Methodist church. He aided police by revealing movements of a man he saw start some blazes.
The Muscatine county Crop Improvement Association executive committee plans a several days’ automobile campaign to raise $2400. Failure to raise the amount will abandon the project supported by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Francis McKie sold his 240 acre Page Center farm to Albert Wellhousan for 45500. McKie had paid 72.50 per acre for the land fourteen years ago, a price that drew local talk and jokes about a possible enforced trip to Clarinda.
Lon J. Richards a 24 year old farm hand employed by Godfrey Johnson hanged himself. He was to wed in a few days to a young woman lying in Afton.
Emmetsburg resident Peter Jones, 88, who will turn 89 in January, walked to the polls on election day and cast his ballot. Jones came to the United States from Ireland in 1849 and voted for the first time decades after arriving, dating back to 1854.
