Raid By Mexican Bandits Strikes Big Bend Area
In a border raid near the Big Bend region of Texas, three U S soldiers and a ten year old boy were killed and two American citizens were kidnapped and carried south of the boundary. The attack, possibly by Villa or Carranza forces, struck near Glenn Springs Boquillas and Deemers. Maj Gen Funston ordered four cavalry troops to reinforce the raided area and possibly cross the border if needed. He reported about 200 Mexicans took part in the raid.

Soil surveys planned for county farms in Iowa
Ames reports that Clay, Mitchell and Ringgold counties will receive soil surveys this summer conducted by the Iowa State College soils department in cooperation with the U S Bureau of Soils. The six month project will give farmers specific fertilizer and lime guidance and best soil management practices. One year after completion a soil-type map and agricultural report will be published, followed by follow up experiments on various soils. Nine counties have already been surveyed and four more are planned each year.
