Burt News Wraps Ills and Events With City Notes

Whittemore residents travel for family funeral in Iowa

John Elbert and Miss Augusta Priester left Whittemore last evening to attend a funeral in Gatttenburg Iowa after a town quarantine noted for small outbreak concerns. The Peter Kollaseht family is mentioned in relation to the event and expected release from quarantine.

Cattle Feed Lot Profits Reported by Roy

Roy’s herd of forty nine head, raised mostly over winter, stayed in the feed lot fifty four days and yielded a gain of 9100 pounds. The total receipts neared 81600 dollars. The Chin cattle gained 55 pounds in ten days in the same feed lot, illustrating Roy’s steady winter feeding practice and favorable corn costs.

Interclub track meet crowns Juniors in close scoring

The Intérclnis track tournament held at the athletic park saw about twenty five entrants from various classes. Ed Adams and Ricae Peterson officiated nights one and two. Weather was ideal and the Juniors won with 64 points, Seniors 88, Sophomores 36, and Freshmen 7. Events on night one included 60 yard dash Willey, shot put Irons, 220 yard dash Dawson, mile Hackman, pole vault Lampright, 440 yard dash Don Juan. Night two saw 100 yard dash Willey and discus Lowe among others.

High School Repression Plans Not Yet Clear

Report notes uncertain prospects for the coming school year though confidence remains that students will honor the school. Miss Bir spent the weekend with a former Algona teacher in Rolfe, while Miss Aiken taught in Mason City and stayed in Rolfe. Local clubs and students worked on Red Cross bandages and ceremonial gowns, with the Domestic Art class buying an electric iron and the school board adding a sewing machine to its equipment. Horses and farm items are listed for sale, including government workhorses and a fern for sale by Mrs. Metheny.
