Sioux City Burned: Two Blocks Destroyed In City Fire
A massive blaze last night in Sioux City, Bronx City, Nev, gutted two central business blocks between Third and Fourth streets and Jackson and Pierce streets. Loss is estimated between 1.6 and 3 million dollars, with landmark buildings including the Toy Bank and Massachusetts block reduced to ashes. Fire began in the Pelletter Dry Goods basement and spread rapidly, leaving only a few structures intact as fire crews and the Omaha department battled the flames. The city’s streetcar network and major commerce lay in ruins in the wake of the disaster.
