Gas Well Fire at Elsmore Stuns Town and Dr Brockett
In Elsmore a gas well flare erupted after Dr Brackett lit a cigar near escaping gas. The blaze prompted the drill crew and town men to work through midnight to separate flames from gas and shut the well. Several doctors and locals fled in panic as the gate and casing were blown apart. No serious injuries were reported.
