California fruit growers have used frost alert contrivances that ring a bell when thermometer readings drop to set points. The system uses a relay, thermometer, and alarm. it can be adjusted for different crops and hot houses, triggering a bell as frost danger begins.
Denison Iowa September reports William Numley charged with murder of Fred Powell escapes from jail after overpowering Sheriff Bell who fired three shots at close range. Numley fled toward the road to the Blindla Central depot as armed men sweep the area.

A Sioux City boy named Hood told police he was robbed by two hoboes who bound him in a Northwest freight car at Missouri Valley.
