Oldest Lady Resident Corrects County First Women Claim
A long letter to the editor challenges a prior notice about the first white woman in the county. The author, recalling events from 1854, lists families who traveled here on August 27, 1854, and identifies the pioneer women, claiming she and four other kin were among the first white women. She details routes, claims, and settlements, and references local figures including Call, Hill, Parsons, and Buell, insisting the earlier article erred.
