Army Veteran Durant Dies After Civil War Service

Anthony Hunter Durant, a longtime Algona resident and Civil War veteran, died Saturday afternoon after months of illness. He served in Company K, first Wisconsin, and later Hancock's Veteran Corps. Born April 10, 1835, in New Brunswick, he lived in Ontario and Wisconsin before settling in Algona. Funeral services were led by Rev. O H Holmes with G A R posts assisting. burial followed in the cemetery.
