Martinsburg West Virginia June 7 22 G L Speight a farmer wanted in the killing of Trooper Crawford dies after a gun battle that lasted over six hours. Speight barricaded in a barn and was fatally wounded plus seven bullets. Lieutenant Lilly of the posse was injured. Sheriff William Dean led 9 state policemen and 100 citizens in a 24 hour search. Speight fought arrest for threatening to kill a county auctioneer over debt.
Charles Leonard Nash a 13 year old from Boone Colorado drowned while swimming in Dotson lake southeast of Pueblo. After a two hour search his body was recovered about 100 feet from shore as scores watched including his mother and siblings.
The body of Clarence D. Sheldon, a $4 wealth New York publisher, was found in a swamp about five miles from his Verbank summer home. He had disappeared ten days earlier and had likely been in the swamp several days.
A 28 year old pilot from Gritton Ohio plunged 800 feet to his death this afternoon during a flying circus show near Lexington Kentucky. A crowd of about 6 669 watched from field seven miles out as the aircraft went down.

Tracy Minnesota June 22 a tornado west of town killed John Edwards and injured his wife and two sons. Farms were destroyed and houses foundations lifted. In nearby St Peter Minnesota another tornado damaged homes and trees with no reported deaths.
Omaha reports six government planes destroyed when a gale tore the hangar roof and toppled walls. One plane belonged to pilot Jack Knight. two survived unscathed. Air mail service continues. extra planes will be flown in from Chicago. All equipment moves to Fort Crook on July 1.

Spokane eclipse June 22 report states Erwin Stromeren an electrical engineer from Ajo Arizona died when a car driven by Stromeren with Alvin Johnson and two young women aboard went over a fifty foot bank two miles north of Athol Idaho. Johnson survived with a broken back. two women escaped unhurt. The car was reportedly forced off the road by another vehicle. Johnson was hospitalized with uncertain prognosis.
A $150000 contract was let for a radio broadcasting station at Denver Cass. It will be the third and last in the General Hietric Company chain after WGY Schenectady and KGO Oakland. The Denver station is scheduled to begin operations in December.
