Train Collision Near South Bend Leaves Dozens Dead

A coastbound and a westbound streetcar collided near South Bend at 2:10 am. Curtis Kline reported fifteen killed and 20 to 35 injured. The westbound motorman was trapped between the cave voids, delaying rescue. Most eastbound riders were returning from Crown Point races.

Constantinople reports the minister of foreign affairs told the chamber of deputies that if the powers evacuate Crete the Turkish government will maintain sovereignty there. Lincoln Nebraska June 1 Bishop Benacam today minimized the demonstration at Ulysses last night where he was pictured being driven from the town by an angry mob violence. Washington June 18 The Senate spent the day on tariff matters and postponed final action on income and corporation taxes.
