Officials uncover a nationwide conspiracy to siphon millions from U S war orders. Manufacturers and contractors agents allegedly paid illegal commissions. army officers may face implication though no definite involvement found. Baker leads the investigation into the matter.
Federal prosecutors and the Justice Department raided hundreds of manufacturers’ offices across major cities including New York Boston Chicago and Washington amid a crackdown on alleged illegal contingent fee contracts to win government war offers. Eleven Washington offices were searched as a federal grand jury indicted four Boston businessmen for acting as contingent fee agents. Authorities warned of possible broader disclosures as investigations continue.

News from Chihuahua City reports Villa and his men entered Parral on Friday looting the town before being driven out by federal troops. A woman from Mal Passe reported the massacre of residents and the looting occurred June 4. five Villa followers were captured at Zaragom and brought here for trial with possible execution if convicted.
Scott Eiectod has been reelected president of the International Typographical Union, announced by the official canvassing board at the international headquarters. The vote canvass has been in progress. Walter W. Barrett of Chicago chosen first vice president, J. W. Hays named secretary.
