Allied forces push German troops back along the front near Northwest Chateau Thierry as Yanks and French hammer adversaries with renewed vigor. Reported gains indicate continued pressure and advancing positions across the sector.
American and French forces fight in six miles of front from Vinly to Bouresches northwest of Chateau Thierry. Marines and French troops capture Veuilly La Poterie and Bouresches, push German forces back, and suffer heavy enemy losses. Torcy remains a hard-fought prize as others see limited action along the Marne and near Rheims.
Paria reports German aircraft used a new illuminating device during raids. The rocket clock bomb releases a parachute plasma that ignites a magnesium based substance, lighting the area 300 to 400 metres high for about two minutes, aiding bombing operations.
The Panhandle and western Texas saw two to three inches of rain in twelve hours. Flooding washed out Fort Worth & Denver rails near Memphis, interrupting service for hours and submerging over 1,200 yards of track. Beneficial rain boosts range and crops with prospects improving.
