Corralles Bridge Ownership Debate in Bernalillo County

Bernalillo County commissioners received word from County Surveyor Don J Rankin that Corralles Bridge lies in Bernalillo County. The finding settles months of dispute over jurisdiction and hints at costly repairs needed after spring floods. The board also addressed road supervisor bonds and fines for reckless driving on Barelas bridge. A coroner inquest into Josefita Duran de Lucero’s death from a streetcar collision at Railroad Avenue and Tenth Street found fatalities but did not exonerate the Albuquerque Traction company. Witness testimony described car speed, braking, and the wagon collision with the trolley. The case proceeds toward possible trial as attorneys for Durán and the Traction company pursue their positions. A separate report notes arrest of a rail company clerk for embezzlement and ongoing legal actions related to the case.
