Cripple Creek to Get Long Drainage Tunnel Project

The Cripple Creek district plans a new 26,600 foot drainage tunnel to tap ore bodies 700 to 1,200 feet below the current water level, cost about 1 million dollars, with a three to four year construction span. The scheme aims to double the district’s production and unlock vast low grade ore via cyanide processes and deeper mining. The current shaft depths and the El Paso tunnel show the scale of drainage needed to access richer ore and sustain high output.
