The seven compartment car includes two state rooms a stenographer room a large observation room a kitchen and porter room. It will be electric lighted and heated and numbered 18. The former car 218 later 6 moves to Los Angeles for I L Hibbard. President Ripley also has a new business car under construction at Pullman Illinois expected to be one of the finest on the Santa Fe.
Hon Thomas Hughes of Tucson visited the legislative chambers to press for continued funding of the Arizona Historical Pioneer Society. Once receiving 1000 a year, the appropriation was cut to 750, with past court cases upholding the funding. The society preserves extensive early Arizona records and plans a hall of records, while other bills on pioneer homes were not enacted.
In San Francisco a court awarded Edna Hall to Mrs. William Hall after a complex child custody dispute. The case involved Clara Hall, Mrs Carson, and a mysterious letter from a woman signing as Daisy. The Halls and Mrs Carson faced perjury charges. the other participant remains missing.

Howard Hauk, an assayer, uncovered a forty pound white topaz near Copper Mountain, Cripple Creek. The gem, one of the largest of its kind, could yield about 1,000 cut stones worth around 4000 dollars. It had been buried for years and is now exhibited at Miss Hauk's steam drink works on Bennett avenue.
