Impressive Ceremonies At Meeting and Memorial

A large Albany audience attended the Woman's club meeting featuring Good Literature Day with a book shower. Delegates were chosen for the 32nd annual Erie district federation convention. Speakers discussed home library literature, safety features in public welfare, and a memorial to Mrs. Alice B. Hopper. A food sale and a May 10 Mother’s Day follow-up were planned.

Akker. 1 year Lou Huechler, Bert Wilson, Lyndon Drury. Reenecker named caretaker. Maintenance assessment set at $2.00. 16 volunteers cleaned grounds. annual meeting moved from April to February end.

Fulton Philharmonic Concert Features Albany Glee Club

The Fulton Kiwanis club sponsored the fourth annual Clinton Philharmonic Orchestra concert at Fulton Coliseum Tuesday evening. The Fulton High School Glee Club, directed by Miss Harriett O G Bell, performed three pieces and included Albany students Miss Josephine Sharer, Miss Velma Snell, and Lester Loftus among the performers.

Cordova Senior Class Play a Friday Hit

The Cordova Community High Senior class play What Anne Brought Tome delighted a full cast roster of nine students including Esther Mack Leo Burden and Helen Johnson with Martha George Alvin Barber Johnnie Milman Vernon Pettit and Emil Johnson. Nell Randolph directed and received praise for the production's strong showing.

Lois Drury celebrates 14th birthday at home dinner

Miss Lois Drury daughter of Mr and Mrs W Burton Drury of Cardenplain township marked her 14th birthday with a dinner hosted by her mother. Relatives Mr and Mrs FB Starbuck of Albany and Mr and Mrs Everett Eye attended with their children. Lois attends high school in Fulton and spends weekends at home. J W Starbuck and W L Emmett traveled to Chicago Saturday returning by late afternoon.

Henry Du Vall, a pioneer resident, celebrated his 86th birthday on April 27 1930. Born near Uniontown Pennsylvania he moved to Moravia Iowa as a youth before settling in Albany. His daughters Inez Hugging and Ranavola Snyder reside here. Mrs Eleanor Culbertson also marked her 86th birthday on April 29 1930. born in Cambridge County Pennsylvania she long lived in Illinois and now stays with daughter Harriet Lewis in Albany. The Review sends best wishes for happiness in the coming years.

Health Week Observed at Albany High School

Health week observed in Albany with a talk and stereoptical demonstrations on early germ diagnosis and disease prevention. Dr Miller and Rock Island specialists spoke to students in the high school room Tuesday afternoon, though a malfunctioning projection device interrupted the viewings.

Welfare club ships eggs to Freeport orphans and mission planned

Meredocia Welfare club sent sixty dozen eggs and canned fruit to an orphanage in Freeport. A church mission begins May 25 at Coffey Corners and St Peters Thomson led by two Paulist missionaries from Chicago with daily lectures and a question box open to all faiths.

Mrs. Gus Hoak Recovering From Injury In Cordova

Mrs. Gus Hoak of Cordova is recovering from a broken leg suffered in a fall several weeks ago. A well known local resident, she previously lived here and is a sister to Mrs. W. L. Haynes.

Cast Announced for Albany High School Class Play

Albany high school juniors announce the three act comedy The Daughter of the Duke of Ballyhoo by Plorence Kerigan to be staged May 15. Rehearsals progress well under sponsor Mr Dice. Cast includes Rose Morgan Mabel Klimstra Bob Morgan Edward Sanders and others with two policemen to be announced. The living room setting spans 2 hours 30 minutes and the school orchestra will provide music.

Oak Ridge Cemetery Adds Metal Fence On West Side

The Oak Ridge Cemetery Association announces new fencing material arrived and will be erected on the west side under S H Olds supervision with E J Daw assisting. Rosenkrans chairs the fence committee which chose The American Metal Craft Work and Sales Company of Cincinnati. 550 feet of sturdy fencing will enhance the White City and will be completed before Memorial Day. Donations welcomed to support the substantial project.

Eclipse Visible Here Without Smoked Glass

Albany residents witnessed a solar eclipse Monday afternoon with enough cloud cover to view it without smoked glasses. The sun appeared like a new moon, though it was the same moon, seen around 2:20 to 2:36 p.m. local time.

Erie Relatives Visit E A Huggins Home

Mr and Mrs A Wuggins welcomed a group of Erie relatives on Tuesday at their home. The visitors found Angele Edd well after a long illness and included Mrs Myrtle Matthews, Mrs Mina Slocum, Mrs Amy Turner, Mrs Will Wilt, and Mrs George Hudson. They returned to Erie the same evening. Some folks think the Sherman Act was marching through Georgia.
