In St. Petersburg on March 12 Father Gapon was arrested ahead of an inquiry into charges his group was government subsidized. Minister Tanarezeff cleared him of blame calling him an idealist and a strong man, but foes suggest the arrest was staged to scare revolutionaries and mislead followers.
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Caleb Powers case is not removable to federal courts and must be remanded to Kentucky state courts. The decision ends a writ of error and leaves the case in state jurisdiction. Albany Business League members are urged to attend a meeting at City Hall tomorrow at 8 o clock.
New York March 12 The district attorney's office continued the investigation into the white slave trade patronized and maintained by negroes. Officials spent the day hearing alleged cruelties practiced upon women in places controlled by blacks. A score of indictments has been asked by the DA's office.
