Narrowing Cruelty Alleged by Laborers From Florida

In a New York hearing yesterday against Francesco Sabbia, operator of an employment bureau, laborers recounted harsh treatment. Applicants for Florida East Coast Railway work to Key West were promised higher pay, charged for board, and subjected to brutal conditions. Five complainants escaped an island camp and walked seventy miles to Miami. They were arrested at Palm Beach and sentenced to ninety days in the chain gang for vagrancy.

The Cook County Democratic Club of Chicago arrived in Atlanta three hours late with 180 members.
