Proceedings against Norman Hapgood editor of Collier's Weekly reveal evidence about a October 1904 Town Topics article that spoke of Miss Alice Roosevelt in a disparaging manner. Collier's Weekly denounced Town Topics as engaged in blackmail.
Frank Rockefeller refused to appear before Attorney General Hadley to testify in the Missouri vs Standard Oil Co hearing. He was served with a subpoena last night and stated he would not appear, adding he cannot and there is no use talking about it. He warned they may jail him if they want to.
A Port Angel special reports the Topeka has saved eighteen Valencia survivors near Cape Beale including five passengers. Survivors were on a raft and exposed to heavy seas during transfer. The Valencia disaster now has about 122 believed lost from 155 aboard.
Talladega Ala January 24 The students strike at Talladega College for Negroes flares anew as faculty and students clash over leadership of the farm site President Nice cuts ties with the students and the disruption may force closure Dr Cooper of All American Missionary Society is expected to intervene while the college with four to five hundred thousand dollars in property runs today with about half its students remaining in classes
