It demolished the Virginia Carolina Chemical Co acid chamber and ovens, destroyed dozens of homes and stores, and damaged the academy nearby. The storm also damaged the Georgia Cotton Oil hull, Crystal Ice Co. storage, railroad cars, and a delivery wagon injuring its driver.
