Medal contests most interesting and successful in Chautauqua history
The eighteenth Georgia Chautauqua saw twenty four young men and women compete for four medals with five medals awarded to Lee Sumter Grady Thomas and Colquitt counties. Ten girls vied for the Laura Clementine Davis medal with participants from Early Ware Crisp Colquitt Dougherty Mitchell Tift Worth and Berrien counties.

Tomorrow features Governor Terrell in Albany for a Georgia Chautauqua event with about twenty five military groups from Georgia and Alabama. A grand sham battle at 4:45 p m pits Major Peter Preer against Col. R E L Spence with gatling guns and four artillery pieces. Troops arrive tonight and will be fed at Enterprise Warehouse before ceremonies leading to a 7:30 a m Governor arrival and 3 p m prize drill on the flats east of the union depot.
