Warren B. Bodgett, tied the knot with Eva C. Stensland in a dawn ceremony after traveling by Pioneer Airways from Ketchikan to Petersburg. United States Commissioner Carrol Clausen performed the marriage on Wednesday morning June 25 with Pilot L. H. McHenry as witness.
Mayor G R Dale of Muncie Indiana fined one dollar after appearing in court on a charge of driving at night without a rear light. A bystander noted state police had previously stopped seventy motorists, prompting the self accusation.
A third wedding of the week took place in Petersburg at the Arctic Hotel as U S Commissioner C Clausen joined Henry C McGoone of Gain Island and Laura Smith of Pasadena California in matrimony. The groom has worked on the Gain Island fox ranch at Gambier Bay and the couple will relocate to Gain Island with Mr and Mrs Fred Patten who plan to move there tomorrow.
If weather permits, the church hosts a Sunday School picnic at City Park south of Scow Bay. Children meet at the church at 10 A.M. for transportation. parents and friends invited. bring a basket lunch. An outdoor service follows at noon with luncheon and games.
At the Hudson River events in Poughkeepsie, Washington University teams showed little strength in all divisions except the Junior Varsity where they placed second. Cornell led Varsity by two lengths with Syracuse, Massachusetts, and California following. Cornell also won the Junior Varsity. Washington finished behind by 5 lengths, 21¼ lengths ahead of California. Syracuse, Pennsylvania, and the Navy placed fourth through sixth. Syracuse won the Freshman race with Cornell second and California third. U. W. finished fifth.
William Hill completed a five hour voyage through Niagara Falls in a steel barrel. He endured a badly bruised and sore body but celebrated the perilous feat with his wife and eight children among the thousands of onlookers.
Swanson and Dahl announce a free demonstration of foed cooking in their window featuring A Schilling as cook and Mrs Crewson representing the company. They will bake and serve lunch using a Flame gas stove with coffee and tea, all free, all day.
The P. A. F. Cannery has been rebuilding its warehouse this past week adding a new iron roof. The work appears to be part of ongoing improvements to the facility and may affect storage operations briefly.

Passenger traffic includes Mrs T H Shaafner and baby aboard S S Alameda returning to Petersburg with Mrs J Shaffner. Mrs B Mozeak and Milton Mozeak travel back to Petersburg on the Alameda after wintering in the states. Mrs J Hammer returns from the states aboard the Queen.
Mrs Jimmie Rhodes has undergone an operation and spent time visiting friends and relatives in Montana and Washington. She is returning to her home aboard the Queen.

The S. S. Alaska Steamship Company vessel departed Seattle at nine last night carrying about 300 passengers including forty round tripers and 145 steerage. Passengers listed for Petersborne include A. Lundsta David Anderson Mrs Walter Anderson Mrs J Schaufner Mrs T Schaufner and baby Mrs B Mozeak Milton Mozeak and C O Tirson.
Pacific Steamship Company vessel departed Seattle at ten o'clock with 159 passengers including 21 round trippers and cannery men bound for Burnet Inlet Pellam Bay Tver Scowl Arm and Petersburg. Emil Rode is noted among the passengers.
Cartan A. W. Nickerson commander of the Dorothy Alexander was carried ill to hospital at Ketchikan. He sailed south last week aboard the S S Queen leaving the vessel under Allan Fulmer in command. E F Joost assumes Fix Officer duties in his absence.
