Spokane authorities pursue link between abduction and ransom payment of two $100 000 bills. Investigators cite a man at Huntington Union Pacific station last Sunday night who bought a Salt Lake City ticket. He wore a tan suit brown hat smooth shave stood about five eleven and spoke softly.
The Alt Heidelberg beer delivery yacht owned by Jakeway Distributing burned to the water near Wrangell after engine trouble while leaving Petersburg. Fire spread quickly after a large flame puff, forcing the crew and Captain Jakeway to abandon ship with no personal belongings saved. Rescue boats aided locals as the vessel burned near Wank Island eight miles from Wrangell.
A May tea announced the engagement of Helen Hunsbedt to Harold Foss, son of C J Foss of Ketchikan. The wedding happened June 1 at the Ross residence on the Glacier Highway with Rev. O L Kendall officiating. Helen, a former Petersburg resident, attended the local high school.

Mrs Saxton from Utah is chosen for an office at the American Legion Auxiliary national convention in Missami Florida. She has led auxiliary activities, contributed to defense programs, and will visit each unit in the state on a planned trip. Local unit members plan to entertain her during her travels north or south.
