Child Burned In Kake Fire Kills No One
A house fire in Kake severely burned three year old Lester Ross Dalton and burned his mother Edna with nonfatal injuries. Lester was moved from Petersburg General Hospital to Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital near Sitka in serious condition. Firefighters faced extreme heat while rescuing the child from a bedroom opening only into the burning living room. The cause of the blaze remains undetermined.

The body of Lloyd Davis Sr. 50 of Kake was found in Chapin Bay by CG Cutter Cape Henlopen crew. His skiff was burned to the waterline and exploded likely blowing him overboard. Davis had been reported overdue May 29. Funeral services are arranged by Stikine Memorial Homes.
