City Calls for Bids on Digging New Water Line

The Petersburg Townsite Southwest Addition project seeks bids to dig about 3,400 feet of trench for a 6 inch water line. Depth 24 inches width 20 inches. Iron pipe considered first but wood pipe preferred for cost and durability. Surveys place the line along the unbuilt street behind the existing thoroughfare.

Heimdahl Leaves Trading Union as Manager

Andrew Heimdahl departs today after four years as manager of the Trading Union to pursue another occupation. Johnas Olsen returns to lead the union, having acted in the role for weeks during Heimdahl's absence, while maintaining a Level Island home and commuting by a cruiser built by Clifford Arness. Wrangell Narrows Dredging Nears Full Completion

The Puget Sound Bridge and Dredge Co completed most of the Wrangell Narrows dredging project with the Burrard II in harbor awaiting contracts to start Petersburg Bar work. Dredging removed hard obstructions, achieving a minimum 21 feet depth at mean low tide along the Narrows.

Speedway Day Dinner Dance robbed of 150000 dollars

Two hundred guests at a Speedway Day Dinner Dance near Indianapolis were held up by bandits who robbed them of cash and jewels valued at 150000 dollars. The outlaws fled in a sedan and forced guests to settle their bills as a canvas bag containing valuables was seized. Prominent business and professional men were among the victims.

The Quest of the Pink Peet, a three act play produced by Petersburg Schools, grossed $1188.85 with $70.25 spent in Petersburg, leaving about $118.60 for the P T A. An outstanding bill will reduce the final amount to near $100. directed by Miss Mary Reep with grateful cast and assistants.
