A poem contrasts Christian ethics with Civil War violence and postwar profiteering, questioning why pension systems reward wholesale killing while individuals are punished for killing one. It questions pacifism and calls for starve rather than steal, condemning blood money and hypocrisy.
One of the largest political gatherings in Otero county was held in Tularosa this week. Governor Curry and delegates spoke to a crowd of over a thousand with aid from an Alamogordo band and a Spanish interpreter. A later dance capped the event as irrigation planter E F Jones showcased economical water pumping and abundant crops.

The notice cites the road tax law for men aged 21 to 60 requiring a three dollar annual payment or three days labor. Alamogordo’s Road District No. 1 supervisor R. Eidson notes active oversight and enforcement. B L Williams may collect tax payments at the Improvement Company’s office, with periodic calls for convenience.

Notice is given that William H W Rhoades of Alamogordo New Mexico filed homestead application 4659 on March 17 1906 for the south east quarter of section 34 township 1S range 25 east Mount Diablo meridian. Santa Fe New Mexico records a 1908 application by W T Wells of Alamogordo requesting a permit to divert 8 cubic feet per second from San Andreas Arroyo and a dry canyon north of it for irrigation to Secs 20 30 31 and 32 T17S R10E. The Territorial Engineer will consider on November 24 1908 with objections due by then. Cunningham and Son for groceries notice included.
