Mr Kidson announces the first inspection for November 5 with Roswell and Alamogordo ends meeting at the reservation. Incorporation papers secured the company is ready to start business soon. The line is billed as a major local enterprise likely to boost activity and advertising across the hills drawing in Roswell visitors.
Mr. E. E. Bryan and family from Paonia Colorado have settled in the city. He owns a first class moving picture outfit and will operate a clean, first rate show in the old two story building on the east side of Pennsylvania avenue. The theater will run six nights with three changes a week.
Lumber Company officials led by President Douglas toured Alamo as they push to restart the mill once court title issues are resolved. The mill shutdown threatens a $20 000 payroll affecting Alamo gordo, with hopes the case goes to trial soon for justice.
In Elk New Mexico on October 19 1908 Burdette Hassett of Virginia visited Sacramento Mountain fruits and Sam Cleve sent a 75 pound box of Huntsman Favorite Ben Davis and Winesap apples to the editor S L Cloudcrott for exhibition. Hassett plans to move here after gathering belongings.
The three story facility doubles as a dairy laboratory and classrooms on the first floor with farm mechanics space. An assembly room for the agricultural club sits on the second floor with offices for Professors Simpson Hummell and Fleming and a departmental library. The third floor houses horticulture labs for Prof. Garcia with improved grain and stock judging capabilities.
Crews doubled on the Dawson branch and thirty shop and roundhouse workers added this week. Parker of Phelps Dodge says Dawson mines will ship more coal by January 1 than any prior period. In sixty days railway activity on Southwestern and Rock Island lines in New Mexico should double, boosting Tucumcari's economy. The University of New Mexico Library adds a hundred dollars in books and orders about 150 more volumes on New Mexico, forming a large regional collection.
