A Las Cruces led DeMolay initiation team headed by Prof Jett of State College arrived Tuesday to inaugurate 26 local candidates as the charter members of the Sacramento Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. The Alamogordo chapter, dissolved in 1923, is the predecessor. W H Purday 90 a pioneer soldier Indian fighter and builder died at William Beaumont Hospital El Paso after a weeks illness. A resident of Tularosa since 1905 he helped build many local structures and worked in farming and ranching. His life included Civil War era service in the 1st Infantry paymaster duties and adventures from Alaska to Germany with wartime tales. Funeral with military and Masonic honors held in Tularosa.

Nancy Elizabeth Green widow of John R. Green died after a brief illness while visiting her daughter and son in law Arthur Melton in Corona New Mexico. Funeral services were held in Carrizozo with burial beside her husband. She left four children and six grandchildren noted for leadership in Eastern Star Rainbow Girls and railway order auxiliaries. Domestic Water Demand Delays Irrigation
Town Manager Ben Rutz announced no irrigation of parks and acreage due to an imminent domestic water shortage. The April Water meeting set a policy of rotating irrigation if the earthen reservoir stayed above ten feet or 60 million gallons. Reservoir levels rose one foot from a flash flood and La Luz ditch flow, while pumping to domestic mains resumed to meet shortfalls. Plans were unveiled for a third well and possible fourth via a siphon to minimize earthen reservoir pumping, with full relief hoped from rains.

Mose C. Cauthen the Otero County Hospital Association chair reports that preliminary federal hospital funds applications were approved by Leo P. Schwartz New Mexico Hospital Survey director. Parts 1 2 3 were approved May 28 and June 4. Maurice A. Roe reviewed and approved the plans. Part 4 will cover one third of construction costs. The association has 104000 in contributed funds and 50000 in county bonds to be used when the building contract is awarded. First federal payment will follow one quarter of construction completion.

Board Rejects Pipeline Bids for Alamogordo Water Project
The Town Board of Trustees rejected five bids for a 13 mile La Luz Canyon pipeline and related works to bring water to Alamogordo. They argued awards would exhaust funds from a $500,000 bond issue needed for a water purification plant and mains.
