Death of Ernest E. Barkalow This Morn
Ernest E. Barkalow aged 45 died this morning at the C. C. Cunningham home one mile southeast of Alamo gordo after years with tuberculosis. Born July 19 1885 in Lafontaine Indiana he is survived by three sisters and two brothers. One sister Mrs Fred Staff cared for him and will take the body to Franklin Indiana for burial.

Archaeological Work In Alamogordo Area Paused Until Fall
Archaeological activities at ancient Indian ruins near Alamogordo will pause until fall or later. Stanley Stubbs of the University of New Mexico, backed by the University of Kansas and New Mexico Museum of Natural History, has been excavating three miles north on the La Luz highway and near the A. C. Dahlke farm. Finds include 20 room habitation remains, adob e walls three feet thick, pottery fragments, stone implements, arrowheads, metates, turquoise beads, bone needles, and grass weaving remnants. Some relics are being sent to Santa Fe for study. a local museum may display finds. Stubbs will continue work at Puye ruins and possibly at another site next year. Also notices for a bake sale at Groom's Grocery on Saturday June 6 at 2:30 PM.
