Dr Holmes Elected President of New Mexico Public Health Association

Dr J G Holmes of Alamogordo was elected president of the New Mexico Public Health Association at the 6th annual convention in Albuquerque. Miss Marie Brunk of Las Cruces became vice president and Paul Fox of Santa Fe was elected secretary-treasurer. Dr George S Luckett, director of the state health bureau, was chosen as delegate to the American Health Association meeting in Fort Worth in October.

Mechanical girl Miss Televox to appear at Alamo gordo pavilion

Miss Katrina Van Televox the electrical robot from Westinghouse will perform at the Alamo gordo pavilion on Tuesday June 10 at 2 20 and 7 30 p m under the Texas Louisiana Power Company. She can turn on lights run vacuums fans and more from a command by her master Miles. Roy Wensley a Westinghouse engineer conceived the robot idea. Televox is part of a tour and cost about 22000 dollars and is linked to Herbert Televox. The demonstration begins at 2 30 and 7 30 p m and the public is invited.

Hagerman Bears to Play Baseball at Alamogordo Park

The Tularosa Tigers and Hagerman Bears meet at Alamogordo ball park Thursday June 19 for a day game and a double header Friday June 20. Both teams bring fast, well equipped players and promise high class baseball. The public is urged to attend and support the event.

Marilyn Bee Radka held a birthday party Monday afternoon for sixteen friends at her Pennsylvania avenue home. Activities included a Jack Harmer pie prank, blindfolded butterfly pinning, cake with yellow snapdragons, photos around the cake, and traditional cake-choosing games. Effie Wilson won a prize for the butterfly game.

State highway department shifts to remove roadside signboards

Santa Fe reports the New Mexico highway department is enforcing signboard laws promptly after violations are reported. Magnolia Oil Company was ordered to tear down a large sign near Canonecito on the Las Vegas highway as enforcement action.

Death of Ernest E. Barkalow This Morn

Ernest E. Barkalow aged 45 died this morning at the C. C. Cunningham home one mile southeast of Alamo gordo after years with tuberculosis. Born July 19 1885 in Lafontaine Indiana he is survived by three sisters and two brothers. One sister Mrs Fred Staff cared for him and will take the body to Franklin Indiana for burial.

Mrs C O Breece of Cloudcroft files a federal court suit seeking 25239 50 in damages from Momsen Dunnegan Ryan Co and Employers Liability Assurance Co. She says a November 1929 triple accident near Three Rivers caused permanent injury including a broken collar bone when a vehicle driven by Leonard Fogle hit a car owned by Archie Campbell, striking her car.

New Scout Head to Arrive in Roswell

H G Morehead, an experienced troop manager and former assistant camp director at a Boy Scout camp in the Sacramento Mountains, will arrive in Roswell to lead the summer vacation program for the Eastern New Mexico Council. He recently earned a Master’s from the University of New Mexico and will extend activities to local boys and girls. Minor Huffman takes leave to run a private camp near Cloudcroft.

District Court for Otero County convenes with jurors and several cases

The Otero County District Court opened Monday at the Court House in Alamogordo with Judge Numa C. Freager presiding. Officials in attendance included J. B. Newell district attorney and C. O. Bennett interpreter. Grand jury summoned for June 4, many cases set for June 9 to 14, several dismissals and name changes granted. Roswell Vet Kills Two Children And Self Near Ruidoso

Roswell veterinarian Dr. C R Farmer 40 killed his two children Betty seven and Billy four and took his own life on a mountainside near Ruidoso. The autopsy ruled death by his own action after he obtained poison while experimenting at a home laboratory. The family had traveled from Roswell for a weekend getaway.

Minor Huffman, area Boy Scout executive, receives leave of absence until fall to focus on his private camp near Cloudcroft. Roswell welcomes Mr. H. G. Southwest Lumber Co Employee Injured at Marcia

Mr. Galloway, an employee of Southwest Lumber Co, at Marcia, connected with the Russia to camps train service, was badly injured last Friday morning and had his foot crushed. He was taken to Rousseau Hospital where the foot was amputated in the afternoon. He remains in the hospital and is reported as recovering well.

Local firm plans first Alamogordo airplane exhibit at rodeo

Archaeological Work In Alamogordo Area Paused Until Fall

Archaeological activities at ancient Indian ruins near Alamogordo will pause until fall or later. Stanley Stubbs of the University of New Mexico, backed by the University of Kansas and New Mexico Museum of Natural History, has been excavating three miles north on the La Luz highway and near the A. C. Dahlke farm. Finds include 20 room habitation remains, adob e walls three feet thick, pottery fragments, stone implements, arrowheads, metates, turquoise beads, bone needles, and grass weaving remnants. Some relics are being sent to Santa Fe for study. a local museum may display finds. Stubbs will continue work at Puye ruins and possibly at another site next year. Also notices for a bake sale at Groom's Grocery on Saturday June 6 at 2:30 PM.

Sheepman Charged With Murder Near Ancho New Mexico

Santa Fe May 31 Nail pickers used by the State Highway Department saved New Mexico motorists 267 200 in tire and tube repairs last year Records from cars sold from the department s fleet show the pre use cost per mile for repairs was 00163 and the present cost is 00097 a saving 00066 per mile The electric nail pickers operate 5500 miles on the main trunk highway system and are paused only by snow or rain reducing puncture related relays and accidents
