RAY A. SMITH, Publisher announces subscription rates for one year two dollars six months one dollar and three months sixty cents. Paper published every Thursday in Akron Town and entered as second class mail matter September 26 1901.
Special Correspondence details a busy period in Westfield with visits from relatives and friends from Kentucky South Dakota and Iowa. Local clubs meet with talks on White King products and art study promising a lively season. Westfield defeats Akron on the diamond, and a Rock Valley loss caps a week of community events and gatherings.
U B Ladies Aid to meet at Mrs Dick Hamilton home on Wednesday September 30. Several local residents visited or hosted gatherings including the Hamilton and Wilken families. Willis Ball sale drew attendees while extended trips and birthday celebrations were noted among residents.
Vermillion resident Mr Frank Marel toured Yankton area farms last week while visiting one property. Sioux City shoppers Mr and Mrs Eddie Lewison and their son Howard were seen in town Tuesday.
The Merrill agricultural show drew a big crowd with Kovarna brothers winning two grand prizes for colts and Jlmer Branne taking a third. Marriage license issued to Ivan Wright and Hazel Heath. A daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Allard at St. Joseph's hospital. Various local health updates, travels, and town news including weather, a hospital discharge, and community events. Milnerville loses several young residents moving to San Diego and Denver for new jobs.
Services Sunday morning at 11 o clock with Sunday school at 10. Luther League meets Tuesday Sept 29 at Luther Hall with hosts Mr and Mrs Albert Anderson and others. Junior Mission Band meets Sept 26 at Luther Hall and holds annual sale Friday Sept 2. Local residents visited families and hosted guests over the weekend including Mrs Wm Ericson Miriam Hannah Sellberg Mrs Mary Larson Mrs Ed Larson. Margaret Petry from Hawarden stayed with Mrs Alve Ericson.
Irene Miller and Violet Kallsen visited Thursday evening with friends. Mr. and Mrs. John Molzen and daughter Joyee, Elbert Siebens, Grandma Ellis and Mrs. Barth Miller traveled to Marion 5 D to see Mrs. Margaret Molzen undergoing treatment at Thiezen clinic. Albert Kallsen and family from St. Paul Minn visited locally last week. James Gable and John Koeh families attended a reunion and picnic at Ponca Neb last Sunday. Randall Breitharth returned home after visiting near Pender Neb. Mrs. John Molten returned home after a visit with her sister in St Paul Minn. John Tapper family visited Ben Toel home Sunday afternoon.
