Funeral services for J F Cassen were held at the family home in Milnerville with Rev Sevrrill of the First Christian Church presiding. Music was provided by Mrs Rogers and Mrs Gantz and pianist Miss Katherine Dodsley. Pallbearers were Alex Beaulieu Frank Beaulieu John DeRocher Waldon Fry Richard Milner and Albert Shindel. Interment was at Logan Park cemetery. The notice also reports community updates including Evangelist Smith leaving Adaville church, Miss Virginia Tague visiting Sioux City, and local residents making travel for the funeral. A frost was observed Monday with near freezing temperatures and corn largely out of danger.
Prominent farmers from the locality joined organizers in LeMars last week to discuss an electrification project. Merrill enjoyed a successful celebration despite threatening weather with good amusements and many entrants. Bud Milner, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Milner, spent nearly all last week at home with flu before returning to West Junior in Sioux City this week.
Local social notes detail a Sept 26 Sunday evening missionary program and a long list of visitors and relatives praising confirmation ceremonies at Union Creek. Attending families include Johnson Sellberg Anderson Ericson Hamilton Hultgren Aurelius and others with multiple gatherings and dinners noted.
Residents hosted visitors from Iowa and South Dakota during a busy week. Mrs Ruth Aurelius of St Paul visited with Elmer Hultgren and Hannah Sellberg's circle in Sioux City, while relatives from Centerville and Akro n joined family gatherings. In school notes, the kindergarten through sixth grade outlined class projects from plant displays and reading charts to Indian life studies and geography lessons, with student progress and activities highlighted.
