Iowa Department of Public Safety reports 19 motorcyclists killed in August and 63 fatally injured in the first eight months of 1973, a 21 percent rise from 1972. Highway Safety Planner Michael O'Donnell urges helmet use, daylight headlamps, and visible riding as motorcycles remain common on roads amid gas shortages and a Senate vote approving a helmet bill 30 to 15.

Mrs. Grant Barr aged 95 of Akron died Tuesday at a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Schroeder funeral chapel Akron with Rev. Durwood Clausen officiating. Burial followed at Riverside cemetery. Born December 31, 1877 in Springfield Massachusetts she was married December 25, 1894 in Akron. Survivors include four sons Welton Fresno CA Bruce Evanston IL Decelle Kenosha WI Garvis Mountain Home AR and a daughter Mrs Leonide Murray Kenosha.
