Gail Goodrich and Marten Trotzig Wed in Akron Ceremony

The July 17, 1976 wedding at Wesley United Methodist in Akron joined Gail Goodrich of Omaha and Marten Trotzig. Rev. Sherman Tidball officiated at 7 p.m. in a double ring ceremony with a detailed ivory gown, yellow bouquet, and reception at Akron Country Club. The couple, both SDSU graduates, plan to reside in Omaha while the bride works as a dental hygienist and the groom attends Creighton Law School.

Senior Citizens Hobby and Talent Show at Sioux Falls Arena

Entries pour in for the 9th annual Sioux Empire senior citizen hobby and talent show scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept 17 and 18 at the Sioux Falls arena. 60 and older entrants may display crafts, demonstrations or collections and may sell items at booths. Kenneth Ludwig of Akron among early registrants. Highlights include a country store, treasurers booth, rug making, quilting, jewelry, paintings, driftwood and other crafts. Wool garment contest set for November at Westmar College

The Make It Yourself with Wool contest will be held Saturday November 20 at Westmar college commons Le Mars with entries due November 6. Open to all ages meeting wool content rules for garments made from loomed knitted or felted wool, with prizes including a 15 day Mexico tour for national junior and senior winners. Diverse Visits and Family Celebrations Across Akro n and Surrounding Areas

SOM and Mrs Wilbur C Clark and family of Woodbridge VA visited the Akron area last week and attended the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Robert E Lewis of Anthon. The Dean Weyen home hosted Aug 29 gathering for Mrs Weyen and Mrs Robert Trefren with many Akron area relatives and friends. Several family members traveled from Sioux Center Westfield and George to visit, attend weddings, and funeral services. Tim and Ann arrived to settle in Akron. Other notes include vacations, church events, and students moving to new homes or cities. Richard Dowling, summer guest at the Dowling home, heads to Chicago to resume theology studies. James DeJager and Ellsworth AFB relatives spent a few days with Akron parents.

Maynard Hoffman Recovering After California Shooting

Maynard Hoffman of Fullerton California a former Le Mars and Akron area resident is recuperating at home after extensive surgery for injuries from a shooting at California State University Fullerton He was superintendent of college maintenance since 1963 and was critically wounded when a custodian killed seven people and critically injured two His letter to cousin Phil Beaubien Jr Westfield says he is making a satisfactory recovery and has not been released to return to work His Fullerton address is given.

Baptist WBMS Hosts Gold Star Mothers Dinner

The WBMS of the First Baptist Church in Akron hosted its annual Gold Star Mothers dinner at noon on Wednesday September 1 in the church parlors. Gold Star Mothers present included Mrs. Hugh Dowling Mrs. Gerald Henrich Mrs. Henrietta Hoschler Mrs. Alma Kiewel Mrs. Grace Small and Mrs. Clark Tindall. A program followed the lunch.

Easter Seal BBQ dance at Beresford Sept. 18

A benefit dance and barbecue for the Easter Seal society will be held on Saturday September 18 at the VFW in Beresford South Carolina sponsored by Robert Heinzman. Barbeque at 7:00 p m and dancing at 9 p m with music by the Country Wranglers. Public invited and a free will offering will be taken.
