Death of Mildred Bertrand Trefren in Westfield area

Mildred Bertrand Trefren, 28, died at home Friday September 2 1938 after a life in the Westfield vicinity. Born October 22 1909 near Milnerville Iowa she was a Westfield High School graduate and active church and community worker. She was married to Robert Trefren and is survived by her husband, parents Mr and Mrs John Bertrand, a brother Spencer and sister Mrs Arthur Kuntz. Funeral services were at St Patrick's Akron with Rev Father Chas Ernst. interment in Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers named John Martin James Martin Philip Beaubien Dan Welch Ray Gibbons Milton Conway.

At the Elk Point Old Settlers’ picnic on Tuesday last week four teams entered the horseshoe meet Sayles Bluffers Nielsen’s Regulars Spink and Elk Point Nielsen’s Regulars won first prize Sayles Bluffers took second Elk Point finished third Hees led the first round with Nielsen’s Regulars 54 36 64 scores and second round shows Nielsen’s Regulars 65 52 while Sayles Bluffers and Elk Point posted lower totals with Spink trailing the field.

Damp Labor Day Cancels Sioux City Moose Lodge Game
