The Plymouth county Farm Bureau women will hold a rural urban day on Monday afternoon October 31 in the Farm Bureau meeting room starting in the afternoon. Women are urged to bring an urban guest for an exchange on mutual concerns with a crepe and egg cookery demonstration by Lois Kuester of the Iowa Egg Council. Rural women should bring farm produce or baked goods for urban guests. Separately Airman 1st Class Jon S. Davis, son of Mr and Mrs Floyd Davis, route 2 Elk Point, has been promoted to airman first class in the U S Air Force. Davis, a dental specialist, is stationed at Holloman AFB New Mexico with a Tactical Air Command unit. He is a 1975 Elk Point High School graduate.
Halloween themed recipes feature orange and black brownies with a three deck design and Jello popcorn balls. The brownies use multiple chocolate layers with butter sugar and vanilla, while the popcorn balls mix gelatin sugar and corn syrup before shaping.
Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Clark took Mrs Grace Jans and Mrs J F Rhinehart to Mondamin Morehead and Onawa Iowa to visit childhood hometowns. Mr and Mrs Harley Lewison returned from Minnetonka Minnesota after a week with their son and family. Mr and Mrs Gil Lewison and Mrs Idelline Simeon visited in Minneapolis with her son. Lillian Bliss of Bell California and Wanda Bliss of Sioux City visited Akron to see friends. Mrs Bliss attended her grandson Jerry Wilsons wedding October 8 in Cedar Rapids Iowa. She enjoyed California weather during the visit. Mrs Allis Osnaruritz of Pueblo Colorado and Mrs Sylvia Nichols with Mr and Mrs Bernard Beaubient of Sioux City visited Amy Agnes and Sibyl Campbell.
Family and friends gathered Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jurgensen to celebrate Charlie Jurgensen turning 91. Attendees included Vernon and Philip Jurgensen, Elmer and Rodney Jurgensen, Larry and Jamie Jurgensen, Carry Plueger, Joshua and Joel, Blake Larson and Janelle, Arlan and Arlene Nannen, Ella Nannen, Ken Frerichs, Randy Frerichs and Amy, and Anna Meske.
Kathy Jo Barnes of rural Freton has accepted a resource reading coordinator role at Jackson Vo-Tec in Jackson Minnesota. A 1977 graduate of Mankato State University she earned a BS in elementary education and is an Akron Community High School alum. She and husband Russ live in Jackson Minnesota.
Kristin Anne McCorkell born October 19 1977 to Kristin Anne and David McCorkell of Glendora California weighs unknown and joins siblings and grandparents in Covina Azusa Akron. Eric John Bouwman born October 19 1977 at Akron Hospital to Robert and unknown Bouwman family of Akron weighs 7 pounds 6 4 ounces with sister Michelle Lynn. Grandparents include Paredes Arden family and McCorkell and Davis families with other great grandparents from Akron Hawarden and Azusa.
Emily Talbott daughter of Mr and Mrs Don Talbott Akron plans December wedding with Terry Andringa son of Mrs Elizabeth Andringa and the late Jack Angringa Sheldon. Emily works at Bethany Christian Services Sheldon and Terry at Andringa Construction Sheldon.
