Mrs Chris Nystrup and Ben Jurdghl visit Lincoln relatives while Mr Johnson, former Aaron resident, now in a Lincoln nursing home, and Mrs Johnson, Dr Sanvorti’s mother in law, appear in town. Thanksgiving observances include a 234 meals at Westfield school.
Thanksgiving saw numerous Ross family members and friends gathering in homes across the area. Mrs. George Bern celebrated her birthday and 42nd wedding anniversary, while church groups planned a December 7 meeting and a pancakes fundraiser for the B P Feeds Company.
Regular meeting of the Westfield Community School Board of Education was held November 14, 1967 at 8 p m with all members present. Minutes and bills were approved. Danyl Baston and Marvin Knoksh discussed a study group for both schools. plan dropped. Beant approved Salix Steel Fabricator Co bid 1485.54 to replace furnace flue tubes. Additional risers for music department wind filing cabinets approved.
Church schedule lists Edward Mays minister with choir and cantata practices, worship, church school, and council meeting. Ladies Aid meets with film on Christmas Appalachia, thanks for community support after Hartmann Bros gas aid. Card of appreciation from residents thanks pastors, hospital staff, and friends for visits and kindness.
The 3A and 4A classes report a busy period with birthday recognitions for November, butter-making activities in social studies, money handling through toy and grocery stores, and ongoing math and language lessons. Second grade finishes unit two in reading and begins unit three, while kindergarten explores reading readiness and numeral five. A mural depicting the Mayflower Thanksgiving story adorns a classroom window.
Students celebrate Thanksgiving with a decorated room featuring pilgrims turkeys Indians and cornucopias. They shared what they are thankful for and displayed photos. November birthday celebrants include Tammy Nelson Jacki Johnson Mrs Donnelly Cherie McNamara David Dierks and Amdree Van Norrt.
Plymouth County Board of Education will meet at the Court House at 10:00 am on December 14, 1967 to amend the 1997 County budget adopted July 28, 1966 by increasing expenditures for Unanticipated Expenditures to 5000 dollars. The increase will be funded from increased receipts and cash balances not budgeted. No tax increase for 1967. Taxpayers may be heard for or against the proposed amendment. A detailed statement of receipts other than taxes, cash balances, and proposed disbursements will be available at the hearing. Christine L. McCormick, Secretary.
