Christmas Seals Reminders Urge 63rd Year Contributions

The county Christmas Seal association will mail first reminders for contributions. Since 1950 respiratory diseases including tuberculosis emphysema chronic bronchitis asthma and pneumonia are targeted, with environmental factors and youth cigarette education added. Death of William Manning a longtime Akron resident

William Manning 89 of Akron died Tuesday afternoon November 11 at Akron Hospital after a brief illness. Born December 20, 1879 near Richmond Iowa he married Nell Kapfer January 14 1908. He served on multiple local boards, led Farmers Grain Co 18 years, worked 30 years in seed corn sales, moved to Akron 1948, survived by son Clayton in Washington DC and two grandchildren. funeral held November 15 at St Patrick’s with burial at St Patrick’s Cemetery. Card of thanks follows.

Death of Fred Lower of Westfield Iowa at 72

Fred Lower 72 of Westfield Iowa died Thursday November 20 at Sioux City hospital after long illness. He born October 24, 1904 near Akrom Plymouth County farmed near Akron, later custodian for Sioux City schools. Survived by stepdaughter Elma Eslick of Long Beach three brothers Lone Knox ville Knoxville and Fay Bronson Iowa a sister Mrs Harold L Jammerthal Akron and a grandchild three great grandchildren.
