Elkhorn No. 2 Watershed gains Planning Priority status

The Elkhorn No. 2 Watershed in Elkhorn township is approved for Planning Priority by the Little Sioux Works Committee on Nov. 6, the first Plymouth county watershed to receive Little Sioux Assistance. The 1829 acre area includes 13 farms with 11 co operators in the Plymouth Soil Conservation District. 10.8 miles of terraces exist with plans for 11 more miles in two years. Sample conservation gains include 0.4 miles of terraces for Wendt Brothers and 0.6 miles for Tom Ruble, plus waterways and tiling projects across several townships.

Vermillion Bowling Results in America League

Vermillion Rex's Alleys hosted results from November 20 with teams Plymouth Co-Op Farmers Co-Op Corey's Rex's Alleys Hamm's Beer Callahan's. Highs included Virgil Kaiser 569 and Russ Pace 527 with Kaiser tying Pace at 204 for high game. Rex's Alleys led team series 2338 and 816 in a 3 1 split. Preston Pearls 4-H Club Meeting Recap

The Preston Pearls 4-H Club gathered at Mary Ann Fara’s home with roll call on health improvements. Members Pat Frerichs and Glenda Borchers demonstrated cleaning kits, Betty Frerichs spoke on outdoor beauty in fall and winter, and a portfolio demonstration plus personality chart planning were shared. The club plans Christmas caroling at the Panska Home in Hawarden, Iowa on December 14, followed by lunch and games at Glenda Borchers’ home. Next meeting is December 10 at Betty Preridhs’ home. lunch was provided by the hostess. Reporter Darlis Hillrichs.
