Mrs. Henry Plueger spent Tuesday with her nephew Wilbur Eilers who is a patient at Hawarden hospital. He is improving slowly. George Fara received news of his father’s death in Reed City Michigan and left for there. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. Miss Frances Port returned home after several weeks working at the Orval Port home in Sioux City.
Pleasant Hill notes report Mr and Mrs Harvey Welch and son Orville shopping in Sioux City Mon day. Mr and Mrs Russell Huff and children visited Lee Stoutenburg near Akron Sunday. Welch drove to Vermillion with Mildred and Avis Heasley visiting Sunday. Alfred Swanson and son Walter visited relatives in Le Mars. Huff and Lorraine called at Welch's Friday. A Knecht child who stayed with Clarence Andrews returned home. Donald Waterbury of Southwest City Mo was in a serious accident but progressing toward recovery.
On Tuesday local citizens aided in rescue work by draining Van Wieck lake and removing about 50,000 pounds of bull-heads along with bluegills crappie pike and catfish to the Big Sioux river They also destroyed around 2 000 pounds of gas and skip jacks to purify the streams Mr and Mrs A A Martin and James and Marguerite Martin drove to LeMars Monday A farm program meeting was held Thursday in Community Hall to set plans for 1935 Mrs G W Maysonholder and Henry and Lea Rose Maysonholder will visit Mapleton relatives for the weekend
Gus Anderson from Evanston Illinois spent Sunday and Monday at the August Erickson home. About fifteen neighbors gathered to pick corn at the Robt Brundeen home with lunch served by the ladies. Mr and Mrs W Kiewel and Edward visited Sioux Falls and the Rev Kiewel home in Beresford on the way back. Mr and Mrs Vernon Morehead and children dined at Ralph Heys home Sunday. Augusta Hricksons hosted Art Leonard Ray McGarry Marion Robbins and others from Sioux City City and Gas Anderson in Evanston Illinois. Numerous friends called on Bob Brundeen this week as he recovers. Mrs Elbea Campbell and Ada visited May school Tuesday. A good crowd attended the Mrs Wenzel Parker Estate sale despite rain. Betty Kiewel, convalescing from surgery, returned home from the John Reemis home Wednesday.
Chatsworth residents share visits with friends and relatives from Carnes, Sioux Center, Hawarden, and Sioux City. Local events include a surprise birthday party for Amanda Hendricks, a New Century club meeting with a book review, and gravel work on state roads near the D. K. Bennett farm. Community members also attended Masonic lodge in Hudson and hosted guests from Hawarden.
Union Creek services set for Sunday at 11 with Sunday school at 10. Ladies Aid sale of fancy work and articles Friday at Luther Hall, with lunch after. Local visits include Hultgrens at Sykes home and various dinner and guest stops among residents, plus Minnesota trip returns.
Trinity Lutheran Church marked forty years with plans for a 1914 modern edifice dedicated December 20 1914. The congregation grew from 12 voting members in 1894 to 68. baptism 490, confirmations 170, marriages 105, burials 139, communions 5111. Pastors included Carl Hopf and Fred A Meske, with a new parsonage built in 1898 and a 84 foot spire.
Mr and Mrs Will Kiewel and Family express sincere thanks for assistance during illness. They acknowledge organized food, help picking corn, and support making Bettys hospital stay pleasant.
Chicago rupture specialist H. M. Shevnan will be at the Martin Hotel in Sioux City Sunday and Monday, November 25 and 26, from 9 to 5. Pheasant hunting starts November 24 27 and 28 in northern towns. I T Bode state game warden urges hunters to seek permission from landholders before hunting and to avoid large groups. He notes groups of 15 to 25 ruin hunting and waste birds while promoting restraint to build Hungarian prairie chicken stocks for future seasons.
