Westfield Club Activities and Community Plans
The Tuesday Club met in the Congregational Church social rooms with fifteen members present. They arranged gifts for the State Mental Health Institute and planned the December 10 Christmas party. Book Week features a Paperback Book Fair at the library. Evelyn Banks and Shirley Banks reviewed Education Week and Care Literacy with Mexico as the focus. further discussion to come. Rae Marie and Bobby Jordan visited from Sioux City, plus dinners with relatives and birthday celebrations for twins. St Catherine's Guild met to finalize plans for a Youth Banquet at the American Legion Hall. A Swiss Steak dinner was served by L'Trio Catering. Judge George Rawlings spoke on school problems and cooperative roles of student, parent, and teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Bank spent the weekend with Frank Loetz. The Ladies Aid Christmas meeting is planned for December. The Junior class will present “Take Your Medicine” on November 22 at 8:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. Sharon Welch stayed with Colleen Welch. Pilgrim Fellowship meets November 24 at 7:30 p.m. Evelyn Banks is Youth Leader. A chimney spark caused a roof fire at Roy Warnsing’s home. Akron fire department contained it with extinguishers.

A Club forms with officers and new constitution
The A Club elects Roger Nielsen president Joe Smith vice president and Myron Dirks secretary and treasurer. About thirty members draft a constitution addressing training rule enforcement and restricting sweater letters to earners. Dues are 50 cents per semester as activities are planned including a Christmas party and spring letterman picnic. Senior band members receive a first semester assignment to play eight memorized scales to improve technical facilities.

Neighbors Help Harvest Corn At Moller Farm
Neighbors and friends gathered at the Robert Moller farm northeast of Akron to harvest the corn crop using twelve pickers while the Mollers were away in Iowa City for a serious operation. The list names many local residents who did the picking hauling and food service along with Hartmann Bros. supplying gasoline for tractors.
