The Westfield Cloverettes gathered November 1 at Marcia Irish's home. Roll call referenced One Time Saver For Room Care. They planned to obtain a picture study and a Christmas party, with refreshments served afterward. Reporter Florence Banks contributed.
An appreciation note thanks relatives friends and neighbors for kindness shown during Fay's hospital stay and return home. Plymouth County Farm Bureau members reported to Storm Lake on November 6 to hear Congressman Hoeven warn of mounting debt and praise agricultural independence. Akron Ministers Association held a November breakfast discussing a possible community PTA and showed the film Sounds of the Earth for CROP.
Neighborhood volunteers led by Gilbert Pefferman gathered corn with pickers wagons and elevators to finish before eleven. Dozens of helpers including Albert Anderson Stanley Bay Alver Arneson Lloyd Fickbohm Merle Fickbohm Arnold Helseth Willie Huebner Dennis Hultgren Herman Lueht Ernest Meske Lloyd Miller Vernold Olsen Arnold Powell Marvin Powell Walter Renken Alfred Sommervold Alvin Sommervold Henry Willis aided the effort. Mrs Pefferman has been ill for months and appreciated the neighborly support. Ladies provided forenoon lunch.
The Veterans Administration Office in Sioux City will close December 29 1961 as part of a nationwide shutdown. Veterans and dependents will still be served itinerantly one or more days weekly. many services can be handled by mail to the Des Moines center.
Ten year ago county farm bureau members met with supervisors in LeMars to denounce the county engineer and push resignation. Open house set for Mr and Mrs W F Huebner in honor of their golden anniversary. Local obituaries and marriages noted with many names and events. Ten years ago events include hospital administrator changes and births and deaths across Akron area.
A column fragment lists new births and an arson incident dated November 1901. It recounts the National Tuberculosis Association founding grants, Dr. William Snow Miller’s lung study, and the growth of TB research funding to about $3,700,000 over forty years, highlighting the oddities of antibodies and TB germs. It ends with a note from the Information Service of Your Tuberculosis Association.

Mr and Mrs Phil Beaubien express sincere appreciation for cards gifts and calls at their 50th wedding anniversary observance in Westfield Iowa. Special thanks go to the ladies in the kitchen for dinner and to their children for making the event possible.
