Wedding Open House Honors Parish Priest in Akron
The Akron Register-Tribune reports a church celebration featuring Parish Priest Father Schissel as celebrant and John Lease as singer with Lynda Johnson on organ from Sioux City. Six of seven children attended with families hosting a reception in the Legion Hall, center piece a gold and white wedding cake baked by Mrs Leo Woll, open house 2 to 6 pm with refreshments and gifts on display. The event included a Papal Blessing from Pope John XXIII to Mr and Mrs Philip Beaubien and drew visitors from California Oklahoma and Colorado among others. Two hundred relatives and friends attended.

Plymouth County Dreaded Deaths Highlight Farm and Rail Incident
Plymouth county in the Town legislature died Ben Gerdes 40 who farmed south of Akron November 6 1901. He was found dead in the Ogden school house where election was held the previous day. Surviving were his wife and several children. Harry Stone 28 an itinerant workman fell off a freight train at Westfield leaving his left arm severed and other injuries. He died in Akron the next day. Relatives in Kansas could not be located a funeral service was held here and burial took place in Riverside cemetery.
