Partridge in a Bear Tree wins 1968 Christmas Seal design
William Eisele of Columbus Ohio won the national contest for the 1968 Christmas Seal. His entry borrows from The Twelve Days of Christmas using a partridge in a pear tree motif though a quail serves as the central figure. The design features a golden pear and green leaves on blue and yellow backgrounds signaling world peace and friendship. Perseverance paid off after years of local Call for Artists participation culminating in a national win to lead the 1968 campaign targeting at least 570000 dollars for emphysema research and related education.
