Akron OAGH outlines season plans with two boys squads, three girls teams, and a 19 game first squad and 13 game second squad schedule. First-team foes include Alton, Trinity Preps, Vermillion, Ireton, and Orange City. home dates total ten for boys and seven for the seconds. Akron girls face Anthon and George, both new, with a slate that begins December 4 and runs through February featuring numerous away games and late-season showdowns.
A Northwest Iowa tax conference is planned in Spencer at Cornwall-Fleete Hall on Wednesday November 18 starting at 2 p m Principal speaker will be Harry G Miesse ex executive secretary of the Indiana Taxpayers Association a key figure in the taxpayer control movement He will also speak at the Iowa Taxpayers Association annual meeting in Des Moines on Tuesday November 17 and remain in the state for three days to discuss How the Right of Appeal from Budgets Has Reduced Taxes in Indians He will then appear in Cedar Rapids Thursday and Fairfield Friday Joe L Long executive secretary of the Iowa Taxpayers Association will discuss How Iowa Taxpayers Can Best Control Public Expenditures and outline plans to form county organizations Ample time is provided for questions and discussion All interested citizens are invited to attend the Spencer meeting
Union Creek News reports a Sunday missionary meeting at the church on November 15 with a program to be rendered. The Ladies Aid will hold its annual fancy work sale Friday evening, November 27, and several local families and individuals are listed as attendees and visitors at various birthday and family gatherings.
Mr and Mrs John Tapper and Mr and Jesse Kallsen visited Mrs Arthur Kallsen in Hawarden hospital on Wednesday. Mrs E Siebens hosted the Preston Lutheran Ladies Aid business meeting and lunch. Henry Friedrichs marked his birthday with a large gathering Sunday evening. The Kallsens visited the Albert Witt home Monday evening. Louis Frerichs and family drove from Lake Park Iowa to visit relatives over the weekend. Randell Brightbarth visited his folks at Pender Nebraska on Sunday. A number of locals attended Rev Fred A Meske fortieth anniversary at Trinity Lutheran church Akron Sunday evening.
A bake sale fundraiser is set for Saturday November 14 in Westfield township hosted by the Willing Toilers 4-H club after Arkin's White Tag Flour Contest. Donations are encouraged to support the event and club activities.
The Akron branch of the A. R. C. held its annual meeting on Monday evening, November 2, at Akron Savings Bank. The report shows 251 relief calls, 28 families aided, and $58 spent on groceries shoes layettes and milk. Officers remained unchanged due to no nominations. Vesper club will handle the Roll Call and funds support local Red Cross nursing while aiding school apportionment. Elva Youngstrom, secretary.
