Milnerville and Westfield Notes Brighten Rural Life

Special correspondence from Milnerville and Westfield reports visits by Mrs Shearer and family from Sioux City, Miss Wahl from Woonsocket, and Shirley Lilly returning from teaching to take a job in Cushing Iowa. Church guild events, school closings, and a Commencement program at Westfield High highlight community life along with road improvements, cattle market news, and a farm accident.

Ruble Rumblings Ladies Aid Meeting at Preston Township

Special Correspondence reports that Mrs Art Gabel hosted a large crowd of Ladies Aid members and visitors at her Preston township home last Thursday. After the meeting, refreshments were served by Miss Anna Heeren Miss Clara Heeren Esther Borchers and Walter Kiemme and Norman Heeren attended Sunday dinner with the group.

Union Creek News Notes Local Services and Birth

Union Creek News records Sunday evening services at eight o'clock and a Ladies Aid meeting on Thursday afternoon June 4 at Mrs. Milton Mrieson's home. A baby boy was born May 19 1936 to Mr. and Mrs. John Hamersma at the Hartwig home. Miss Clara Hamersma assists with the work. Mr. and Mrs. Dimmick and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bohlen and daughter visited in the Albin Carlson home on Sunday afternoon. Miss Teekla Anderson is staying with Miss Hannah Sellhere and others visited the Carlson Swanson families.

Lenora Klemme returned to the Dr. Mattison home in Akron after visiting her parents. Pleasant Hill school closed Thursday with a picnic at the John Tammen home. Luella Hilers closed her school Wednesday with a picnic on the grounds. Arvel Jurgenson and son and August Osterthun plus Harry Klemme family visited the John Tammen and John Bultman homes Sunday. A large attendance from the area went to the Chatsworth carnival. Bill Popken visited Sioux City Tuesday. Stony Point school closed Wednesday. An afternoon shower honored teacher Elvera Marple with many gifts.
