Order to Remove Highway Obstructions by Landowners

Iowa law requires removal of obstructions from public highways and highway right of way fences. The Board of Supervisors, citing federal funds on secondary roads, orders landowners to remove all obstructions by August 1 1971 and to refrain from future obstructions to keep highways safe. Plymouth County Cancer Society notes 1971 meeting

Plymouth county chapter of the American Cancer Society met in Westmar commons with 20 members. Reports covered film showings, posters, and pamphlets. memorials totaled 1075 toward an 8320 crusade goal. New officers elected include Mrs. Don Peters and Mrs. Elmer Bogh. 84 attended the area meeting and a complete township report will follow. Clergymen attended the Sioux City conference. officers and directors for 3-year terms were named.

Clinic to aid local crippled children in Cherokee

The State Service for Crippled Children will hold a diagnostic clinic at Washington High School Cherokee on Wednesday June 9 for children under a year with chronic or congenital conditions. Examinations by pediatrics orthopedics psychology speech and hearing physical therapy and nursing will be available with X rays and labs. Referrals should be sent 14 days prior to the clinic date. Medical director is Dr John C MacQueen. Dr Sidney Kripke is another medical director. Non discriminatory benefits under the Iowa Cripple Children's Program are provided under Title VI regulations.
