The piece lists social visits, dinners, showers, a mock wedding, bake sale, senior activities, and school events with numerous names, places, and dates in Akron Iowa area in late May 1936.
Westfield notes recount a St. Catharine Guild bake sale planned for May 16 at the Christensen meat market, and list visits, hospitalities, and local happenings. The Senior class play The White Elephant impressed audiences with Miss Alice Vant Hof praised for coaching. Westfield teams beat Bill's Lunch 9 to 6 in Sioux City.

Funeral services were held in Merrill with interment in Le Mars cemetery. The Milnerville neighborhood and Liberty township residents visited family on the national anniversary. Local activities include visitors from Sioux City, a Des Moines trip, a dust storm and rains, Priscilla Milner injuring a foot, and Milnerville native Garth Knapp moving to a new home in Sioux City. Teachers spent the week in the community.
Special correspondence notes Wim. Gerrietts as owner of a new tract. Mr and Mrs. August Osterthun and Mr and Mrs. John Tammen shopped in Sioux City Monday. Mr and Mrs. Harry Klemme and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Witt and family also mentioned.
Miss Ella Klemme spent last week in Harris Iowa visiting relatives and returning home after a brief trip.
Machinery advances to ensure quick payment of the veteran bonus for those opting to cash their baby bonds after June. Veterans submit fingerprints and data to their local Veterans Administration office, which certifies the application to the Treasury. The Treasury orders the bonds and a matching check, sent to the Federal Reserve for each veteran, who then bundles the bonds and funds for delivery. Starting June 15, packages move via Registered Mail to the named veteran, with Postmasters delivering only to the named recipient. If the veteran has died or moved, delivery accordingly changes.
The note explains returning bonds to the reserve bank for new claims, redeeming at local post offices, and forwarding to paying centers. Veterans may receive government checks or hold bonds as investments, earning interest after the first year, with no interest before year one and none after 1945.
